Op shop hunting

I visited the community Op (Opportunity as in Charity) shop on the island.  It only opens once a month and last Saturday was the day.  I am a sucker for a bargain and my friend Angela and I always visit Vinnies (St. Vincent de Paul) when I am in Toowoomba.  (She has a china cabinet full of the most wonderful treasures she has found here and in Europe.)  I went looking for something I could use in the garden and found someone else had found it before me.  So I kept looking.

I found a little Delf, hand painted, heart shaped box, just the right size for Jasmine's new ear rings, now she has had her ears re-pierced, $2.00  (My daughter-in-law is Dutch)

An old glass juicer like my Mother and Grandmother had. $1.00.  My plastic one is now in the bin.

Then I came across 2 little pink glass bud vases.   They had a signature on the bottom and the 2 pieces cost $5.00.

I looked them up and decided I will not give them to my grand daughters.  I think I will take these into an Antique shop and check them out. If they are worth any thing I think I should donate it back to the Op shop for our community.  ( I had one of my old vases from Lalique valued and was told it would be worth $20,000 at auction!!!)

There was another little pink vase for $2.00, I don't think it is worth much but it is pretty and looks hand blown glass.

I then came upon a Coffee Set with 10 settings, unused.  It was $120.00 and I turned it over to look at the markings.  Wedgwood.

There were an extra 2 soup cups in with this lot so I think someone has cleaned out Mum's cupboard and just donated the unused pieces.

Such a pretty pattern.

I found it is still available today and that this collection would have cost me $1,200.00 AU retail if I had bought it from a shop.

Not a bad mornings work.  I will be going back next month I think and I also think I need to brush up my sponge cake making skills.  That would look great on these plates

Very successful.

Wish I had been at that shopping spree. We had a big Savers shop in Frankston but the place was closed down cause the elevator / lift was too ancient. My weakness is books and the occasional frock. Loved the laundry smell there. Thank you for sharing.
