Computer Re- learning

For years I have used an embroidery drawing program that I got from Nordic Needle, but it has got so old that it no longer works on the new computers and there has never been an upgrade, but, I hung onto an old computer so that I could still use it.  Now that has died.  I also have an industrial drawing program called  Easy Draw which works on a MAC and I use this for vector drawing.  In my other life as a high school teacher I used it for Tech Drawing.  (Some kids only had Apple machines at home so this was for them.)

I have never used this program to it's full potential and now is the time to learn.  I have been driven to it by the fact that I need a program that allows me to draw 'between the lines' for my Kogin designs, most of the other programs (except the very expensive ones) only draw 'on the line' which does not fit my need.  I am not good with Tech.  I get by and can do things I need to do, but that doesn't mean I 'understand' what I am doing.  Now I find that even my Mac program will 'automatically' try to correct my drawing by putting the line on the grid.  We are in a deadly battle here my computer and I.

Luckily I have until 2022 to get this drawing finished.  So, it's an hour or so a day of practice.  I just have to remember not to lose my temper with it.

There is  Illustrator from Adobe.  You have to pay a monthly payment for this, $30 per month for just a few drawing, this is far too expensive.

There is also Inkscape which is a free, open source program.

But, it is back to the battle with EasyDraw to get this Kogin design charted.

I thought computers were supposed to improve our lives?

The difficulty is that computer programs can only do what the designers imagined we might want to do. So if they couldn't imagine it, it's not easy to do. "Snap to grid" is one of those make-your-life-easier things which is sometimes the wrong thing to do!

Yes, that is right.  But, I will get there in the end.

The older I get, technical things seem more complicated.
