The dangers of wildlife

I love to sit on my patio outside my sewing room.  It is on the first floor and I have a great view of the gardens,

and the sky.

In winter it is warm and pleasant to sit here and read, have morning tea or lunch at my little table.

But I was given a rude shock!  I was about to take a bite of my sandwich when it was stolen by this rude bird.

And he was so brazen and didn't say thank you.  Then he was joined by another brazen fellow, who was only there for the company.

At least he didn't want MY food but I'm sure he was looking for me to feed him. (It has been raining and he is a mess.  I'd say he has been digging for worms or some other unspeakable things.)  That magpie had the audacity to come back and look for more food.  Then when it wasn't forthcomming to sing very loudly next to my ear!  (That beak looked very sharp so close to my head.) Then he jumped onto the table and looked under the plate and eye-balled me, as if to say "I want more food".  Some one needs to teach him some manners.

What a Disaster!

Now I know why all those 2.5" strips of fabric were just shoved in a draw.  There isn't much that you can do with them in the way of making patterns for a quilt if you don't have other fabrics to go with the main one.

I'm not sure how I will rescue this one it is just a disaster but it might keep someone warm.

I found another bundle of fabric that has 4 different prints.  This hasn't been all cut up, as yet.  But I think I will have more success with this lot.

Four different fabrics SHOULD result in this type of block.

But then anything would be better than what I have now.

Sometimes fate steps in.

I was just going to use this time for sewing.  But sometimes fate steps in, this time in the form of a bored husband.  He is like a fly in a bottle.  On the go all the time and lock down just puts him in my space.  "Would you like a cup of tea", "We should go for a walk".  "What are you doing?"  I'd forgotten that the lock-down would put him front and centre.

One good excuse to keep him out of my space is "I have to check my Emails", and, as luck would have it there was one there from Amazon Books with special offers on Kindle books.  I had looked at the title "When we believed in Mermaids" a number of times and it did register as a book of interest but when the ebook was on sale for $2.99 I just had to have it.  Now I can't put it down.

It is not deep and meaningful, but, it is a good read.

I also know what everyone else is doing on the island.  They are all on the internet.  The download and upload speeds are SO slow!
