I think that it is actually winter now. The temperature ranges from about 6 to 22 degrees C but the sun shines and the days are beautiful. Even the weeds look good.
I walk the dog along the beach or along the forest paths and just can't believe how blessed I am to live in such a beautiful place.
But many people only see the beauty and don't realise just how dangerous these beautiful waters around our islands are. Just on the other side of Stradbroke Island (seen in the distance) the Pacific Ocean pounds in causing currents and dangerous waters in our bay.
Even when the jet skiers travel in groups they can come to grief.
There are dangerous currents, sharks, and other dangers that people underestimate. In the last few weeks two young men have lost their lives, although as yet their bodies have not been recovered. One was a jet skier the other a paddler. Both have disappeared without a trace.
It pays to respect Mother Nature and not take liberties.
