Boro variation

It was last Mother's Day that my patchwork group made bookcovers, stitched with boro designs.  Gee nearly a year ago.

One our group, Mary, has been haunting Op shops for old fabric and threads and I love the designs she has come up with.

She has kept true to the original old Boro pieces, using only 2nd hand materials but these are from shops in Australia, not Japan.

The use of different types of fabrics changes the end result.

I really like what she has done.

Carin saga

When all those peasants in Northern Japan patched and reinforced their worn workwear to keep warm I don't think they had any idea of what their work would lead to. Now 'boro' is a new quilting term and inspires quilters and needlewomen around the world.
Great Aussie boro!

And it has taken the imagination of so many people.  I have a friend who uses this stitching in her textile classes at high school and the kids love it.

Great results, indeed. And so many variations of colour and pattern!
