Week 37 Pistil Stitch
The God's are smiling on me this week. I had a catch up week and now a stitch I have recently incorporated into a design and have the sample all stitched up. This at a time when I am up to my eyes in classes, book reviews and a ton of other work. They really don't want me to fall behind.
I learnt Pistil Stitch back in the days when I was into silk ribbon embroidery. Then I used it in Candlewicking, it was wonderful for doing stamens on flowers.
Recently I designed this embroidery for a pocket on a child's tote bag and it was just perfect for those tail feathers. The felt bodies are held in position by the embroidery stitching and this lets them sit proud on the background.
I have published this design under creative commons copyright.

So cute! A creative way to use the stitch.

Charming - a very cheerful design. Pistil stitch is one I don't use often, but I'm glad it's in my repertoire.
