Back in the 1990's I took a trip to New Zealand with my family. We visited Dunedin and there for the first time I saw this sea that had a particular colour and almost a feel. It was a weird experience. It was like recognising something I had known before. It was so familiar.
Later I travelled to the Western Isles off Scotland and there was that water again and that same feeling. Then I heard the music. There was something, just like the feeling that I had about the water. Maybe it is a genetic memory.
I love the singing of Julie Fowlis, even if I can't understand a word. There is a short video here about her life, work and the songs she sings.
And this is a montage of the Western Isles and that water.

Dunedin is very Scottish, isn't it! A wonderful part of the world, too..

I love Dunedin too. I haven't been to Scotland but it's high on my bucket list.
