Having spent most of this summer in-doors due to my injury it hasn't really seemed like summer. Now the storms have closed in and it is so hot and humid. By about 3pm the skys are black and everyone who isn't in the aircon is perspiring as though they were sitting in a sauna.
The heat has seen the leaves fall from the trees from heat stress. In some places it looks like autumn.
And then the rain falls, blessed relief.
It drives into the verandahs leaving them mirroring the lace of the ironwork and the garden.
And raindrops hang like pearls from the leaves.
Some leaves just shine as the water washes away the dust.
Others curl their leaves around the raindrops as though they don't want to let them fall to the ground.
Another wet summer but all the floods have been inland. I suppose that Lake Eyre will be full of water again. Now that might be worth a trip.

Heavy rain after unrelenting sunshine and dry weather is such a relief, isn't it!
